The feature film À Voix basse بيّت الحس , directed by Leyla Bouzid, has been selected to compete in the official lineup of the 76th Berlin International Film Festival, taking place from February 12 to 22, 2026. The first wave of competition announcements revealed a program marked by a wide range of international voices and stories, and pointed out a notably strong presence of French and Francophone cinema, among which Bouzid’s film is included. 

For Leyla Bouzid and her collaborators, this selection is a quiet but profound form of recognition. À voix basse will be presented alongside other world premieres from directors working across Europe, Africa and beyond, offering audiences an opportunity to encounter new perspectives at one of the major annual gatherings of world cinema.

The moment carries a deeply personal resonance for the director: Leyla Bouzid has spoken of thinking, with emotion, of her mother, Najette Khefacha, who passed away before the film went into production.
