¡Hola Túnez!

By Tunez Magazine ·

The Spanish Embassy in Tunisia and AECID have launched a call for Tunisian DJs as part of the International Music Festival ¡Hola Túnez! The initiative goes beyond a standard open call. Instead, it creates opportunities for cultural exchange, artistic development, and live performance.

At the heart of the programme is a masterclass led by Spanish DJ LaMia Mari. The session is scheduled for April 23, 2026, at Lez’art in Carthage. Known for energetic sets that blend urban, tropical, and African influences, LaMia Mari brings different musical cultures together. Through the masterclass, Tunisian DJs can exchange ideas and explore new approaches to their practice.

The programme also offers a performance opportunity. Two selected DJs will perform live on April 24 during the festival concert at Lez’art. This step connects the masterclass with a real stage experience. It also gives emerging artists a chance to present their sound to a live audience.

Tunisia’s electronic music scene continues to develop through local experimentation and international influences. In this context, the call offers DJs a space to explore their artistic identity. Participants can draw on local musical references while engaging with wider electronic music cultures.

Moreover, ¡Hola Túnez! forms part of a broader cultural diplomacy initiative led by Spanish institutions and their partners. The festival takes place across several African countries, connecting artists and audiences through music. As a result, the programme places local scenes within a wider network of cultural exchange.

Supported by Spanish cooperation in Tunisia, the initiative links training, creation, and performance. Rather than ending with a workshop, it gives selected participants a direct route to the stage. This approach can help emerging DJs gain experience and visibility.
