On August 1, 2025, the Carthage Film Festival announced that its 36th edition, scheduled for December 13–20, would honor Lebanese artist Ziad Rahbani. Known for his influence on Arab culture, Rahbani was a musician, playwright, actor and journalist.
Instead of focusing on a single feature film, the festival planned a tribute to Rahbani’s artistic career and distinctive musical sensibility. A series of screenings would present selected films he contributed to. Special events would also explore his creative legacy.
Throughout his career, Rahbani worked with influential directors, including Farouk Beloufa, Randa Chahhal, Qassem Hawal and Maroun Baghdadi. The tribute was set to highlight his contribution to Arab cinema and celebrate his wider cultural influence.
