Assala Chouk is a Tunisian illustrator and graphic designer whose work draws on memory, culture, and everyday life in Tunisia. She has been sharing her projects online since 2018, establishing herself as a contemporary voice in Tunisian visual art. Her portfolio includes posters, illustrations, and socially engaged visuals that reflect a strong connection to Tunisian identity.

Her artistic universe explores Tunisian traditions and popular culture through a contemporary perspective. Warm colours, familiar scenes, and details from daily life shape her visual language. Food, handicrafts, and music often serve as sources of inspiration, connecting personal experiences with broader cultural memories. Through digital composition and modern graphic techniques, Assala brings these elements into a visual language that feels both rooted in local culture and accessible to a wider audience.

Assala Chouk is part of a new generation of Tunisian illustrators reshaping contemporary visual art. Their work brings together heritage, modernity, memory, and social engagement. She has collaborated with spaces such as Atelier Glibett and taken part in projects like JDOUD, a residency and exhibition connecting Tunisian and Belgian illustrators. Through personal stories and visual art, the project explores how memory passes between generations.

For Assala, illustration goes beyond aesthetics. It becomes a way to express social realities, preserve collective memory, and affirm cultural identity. Her work draws attention to local traditions, everyday experiences, and stories that are often overlooked in mainstream visual culture. By giving these subjects a contemporary visual language, she creates connections between generations and makes space for different perspectives on Tunisian life.

What makes her approach meaningful is its ability to connect personal experiences with shared cultural memories. Her illustrations invite viewers to reconsider familiar images, traditions, and social narratives. They also offer inspiration to other artists seeking new ways to explore Tunisian culture, history, and identity through visual storytelling.

Assala Chouk is more than an illustrator. She is a storyteller who brings the past into conversation with the present. Her work reflects a generation of young Tunisian artists developing new forms of visual expression while remaining connected to their cultural roots. For initiatives such as Vintage Collectors, her approach could also inspire future collaborations, bringing together heritage, nostalgia, and contemporary creativity.
