La Symphonie des Légendes: when music becomes access to water

By Tunez Magazine ·

The concert aims to turn music into meaningful social action. More than 160 artists will join forces for an evening spanning different musical eras and styles. Conductor Hafedh Makni will lead the Orchestre Symphonique de Carthage, while Mourad Gaaloul will direct the choir. Together with the Opéra de Tunis, they will deliver a large-scale musical production.

The programme celebrates Arab music and international classics. First, it pays tribute to legendary voices such as Oum Kalthoum, Abdelhalim Hafez, Farid al-Atrash and Fayrouz. It also highlights Tunisia’s rich musical heritage.

Meanwhile, the repertoire explores Western classical music through works associated with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It also features popular music icons such as ABBA, Charles Aznavour and Dalida. By bringing these artists together, the concert connects different genres and generations.

However, the evening offers more than a musical experience. All proceeds will support the Eau pour tous project. Through this initiative, organisers plan to install solar-powered pumping systems in rural areas of Siliana. These systems will help communities secure reliable access to drinking water. As a result, the project will address a basic need in areas that regularly face water shortages.

The Rotary Club Tunis Médina leads this initiative as a local chapter of Rotary International. The club supports social, educational and health-related projects across Tunisia. Moreover, its work focuses on practical solutions that respond to community needs. Through local partnerships and Rotary’s international network, the organisation can also mobilise resources and expertise for long-term projects.

The Ministère des Affaires Culturelles and the Opéra de Tunis support La Symphonie des Légendes. Their involvement highlights the value of collaboration between cultural institutions and civic organisations. In this case, music provides a platform for raising awareness and supporting community development.
