In a nightlife scene often dominated by fast electronic music, Disco Tunez Tunisia takes a different path. It does not follow trends. Instead, it looks back to move forward.

Rooted in Tunisia’s golden era of the 1970s and 1980s, the project treats nostalgia as something alive. It is not decoration. It is energy.

Founded by Hedy Ben Hmida under Tunez Magazine, Disco Tunez reflects a wider mission. The platform explores Tunisia’s past, present, and future. It highlights heritage, tourism, cinema, and local artists.

Remembering Through Rhythm

Disco Tunez is built on a simple idea: remembering through music.

Each event brings back a time when dancefloors meant elegance, freedom, and shared emotion. The music is not frozen in the past. It is reactivated.

Disco, funk, soul, and reggae blend with Tunisian classics. Some tracks are reinterpreted. Others remain untouched. All are treated with respect.

Beyond Nostalgia

Disco Tunez avoids becoming a costume party. There is no forced retro look.

Instead, the focus is on sound and atmosphere. The selection is carefully curated. Local archives meet global influences.

A classical Arabic melody can shift into a disco bassline. A forgotten Tunisian rhythm can meet a soul anthem. The result feels natural and fluid.

Spaces That Shape the Experience

The venues are part of the story.

From Gammarth to Sousse, each location adds something unique. These are not just places to host events. They shape how people feel and connect.

A Portal to a Neverending Summer

The 2026 season introduces a new concept: A portal to a neverending summer.

Inspired by Tunisian summers of the 60s, 70s, and 80s, this edition captures a Mediterranean spirit. Back then, seaside hotels and open-air clubs defined nightlife.

This season focuses on feeling. Warmth. Freedom. Music from sunset to sunrise.

The opening event takes place on May 16, 2026 at Aïna in Gammarth.

A Transnational Collaboration with saHHara

Disco Tunez expands beyond Tunisia through a collaboration with saHHara, a Berlin-based collective.

Created for the Maghreb and SWANA diaspora, saHHara connects people through music and culture. Their work blends Amazigh and Arabic roots with modern club sounds.

Through events, radio shows, and community projects, they have built a strong network.

Connecting Tunis and Berlin

This collaboration goes beyond music.

Disco Tunez brings Tunisian archives back to life. saHHara carries this energy into the diaspora. Together, they connect Tunis and Berlin.

They create a bridge between past and present. Between roots and future.

The Role of The Calling

This edition also includes The Calling, a Paris-based platform.

The Calling connects creatives and curates global nightlife experiences. Its founder, Track Advisor, contributed to shaping the event’s artistic direction.

A New Sonic Landscape

This collaboration creates a new musical space.

Tunisian disco meets electronic textures and experimental sounds. Influences from European club scenes enter the mix.

This is not dilution. It is expansion.

Maghrebi sounds evolve and travel.

More Than a Dancefloor

Disco Tunez reflects a wider cultural shift.

There is a growing desire to reconnect with diasporas. To share memories across borders. To build cultural bridges.

Here, Tunis and Berlin are not separate. They move together through rhythm.

A Collaborative Vision

Disco Tunez works with artists, photographers, and creatives.

They rebuild the visual world of Tunisian summers. Through scenography and imagery, nostalgia becomes contemporary.

It is not imitation. It is reinterpretation.

A Third Space in Nightlife

Disco Tunez creates something different.

It stands between electronic nightlife and traditional formats like Raks Sharki. It focuses on groove instead of drops. Emotion instead of speed.

The past is not something to escape. It is something to dance with.

Why It Matters

The success of Disco Tunez shows a real need.

People are not just looking to go out. They want connection. Something familiar, yet new.

Disco Tunez answers that need with clarity.

A Cultural Statement

Disco Tunez Tunisia is more than an event series.

It is a statement about culture and memory. It shows that Tunisia’s musical heritage is still alive.

By reconnecting past sounds with present energy, the project gives them a future.
