Hend Sabry, Mehdi Hmili and Amel Guellaty will represent Tunisia at the seventh edition of the Amman International Film Festival Awal Film. The festival takes place from 26 July to 3 August 2026 in Jordan. Through their participation, the three artists highlight different voices from Tunisian cinema today.

First, Hend Sabry will join the jury of the Black Iris Award for Best Arab Feature Narrative Film. She will evaluate films with other cinema professionals from across the Arab world. Moreover, her presence reflects a long career that connects Tunisian and Arab cinema.

In addition, Sabry will meet audiences during a public conversation titled Beyond the Role, Journey Across Arab Cinema. The event will take place on 29 July. During this meeting, she will discuss her career, her work as an actress and producer, and her experience in different film industries.

Meanwhile, Mehdi Hmili will present his feature film Exile as part of the Spotlight on Tunisian Cinema programme. Through this film, the director continues his exploration of identity, displacement and personal struggles.

Moreover, Exile reflects Hmili’s interest in characters facing complex realities. At the same time, the filmmaker combines a strong visual style with social themes linked to contemporary Tunisia.

Meanwhile, Amel Guellaty will also represent Tunisia at the festival with her feature film Where the Wind Comes From. The film follows a young generation searching for freedom, movement and new possibilities. In addition, it reflects Guellaty’s approach to storytelling and her interest in personal journeys.

Furthermore, the selection of Exile and Where the Wind Comes From shows the diversity of Tunisian filmmaking today. Although the two films explore different stories, both works focus on human experiences and social questions.
