A free conference entitled “Pain Management and Women’s Health” will take place on 19 December 2025 at 3:00 pm at Espace Cinémadart in Carthage, Tunisia. The event aims to raise awareness of women’s pain and improve understanding among women and healthcare professionals.

Why focus on women’s pain?

Pain does not affect everyone in the same way. Studies suggest that women’s pain is often underestimated or inadequately treated in medical settings. As a result, some women experience delays in diagnosis or receive inappropriate treatment.

Medical conferences, including those organized by the French Society for the Study and Treatment of Pain, have highlighted gender disparities in pain management. These discussions have drawn attention to conditions such as endometriosis and osteoarthritis, which can significantly affect women’s quality of life.

Furthermore, biological differences between women and men may influence how pain is perceived and regulated. These differences can also affect responses to treatment.

Certain conditions require particular attention. For example, pelvic pain, dysmenorrhea, and vestibulodynia may require specific diagnostic methods and personalized treatment plans.

Objectives of the conference

The conference aims to explain the different types of pain that affect women, including both acute and chronic conditions. It will also explore the physiological and hormonal mechanisms that may influence pain perception.

In addition, healthcare professionals will share knowledge about developments in pain management. Discussions will cover pain relief strategies and therapeutic approaches adapted to women’s needs.

Another important objective is to promote equitable healthcare. By raising awareness of gender-related biases, the event seeks to encourage better recognition, assessment, and treatment of women’s pain.

Who can attend?

The conference is open to everyone, with a particular focus on women who want to better understand and manage their pain.

Healthcare professionals can also benefit from the discussions and deepen their clinical knowledge. The event may be especially relevant to health sciences students and professionals working in well-being and psychological support.
