Ahmed Jaziri Shines as Tunisia Advances to 3000m Steeplechase Final at World Championships
The 2025 World Athletics Championships kicked off on Saturday in Tokyo, Japan, with Tunisia represented in the men’s 3000m steeplechase.
Tunisian runner Ahmed Jaziri, ranked 12th globally, delivered an impressive performance in the first heat, finishing 5th with a time of 8:31.41 and securing his place in the final. He notably outpaced Karl Bebendorf of Germany, who came 6th with 8:32.27.
Fellow Tunisian Mohamed Amin Jhinaoui, ranked 7th in the world, did not qualify for the final, finishing 6th in the second heat with 8:27.89.
The men’s 3000m steeplechase final is scheduled for Sunday, September 15th, at 9:55 PM local time, while the women’s event featuring Tunisia’s Marwa Bouziani will take place on Sunday, September 14th. Ahmed Jaziri’s qualification marks a significant achievement for Tunisian athletics on the world stage.
