Free Access to Tunisia’s Museums and Heritage Sites on Republic Day, July 25, 2025
In honor of Republic Day, celebrated this year on Friday July 25 2025, the National Heritage Revival and Cultural Development Agency (INP) has declared that admission to all archaeological sites, historical monuments, and museums under its jurisdiction will be free of charge for the day.
This special initiative aims to encourage the public to reconnect with Tunisia’s rich cultural and historical heritage while promoting greater accessibility to the country’s remarkable patrimony. Both Tunisian nationals and foreign residents living in Tunisia are invited to take advantage of this opportunity. To benefit from free entry, visitors simply need to present a valid national ID card or a residency permit.
The Agency emphasized that the decision reflects its ongoing commitment to cultural democratization and national pride, especially on such a significant date in Tunisian history. Republic Day, marking the official proclamation of the Tunisian Republic in 1957, is a symbolic occasion that invites reflection on the nation’s achievements and shared identity.
By opening the doors of museums and heritage sites across the country, the initiative also supports local tourism and provides an ideal occasion for families, students, and cultural enthusiasts to explore Tunisia’s ancient cities, archaeological treasures, and preserved monuments, from Carthage and Dougga to the Medina of Tunis and beyond.
The Agency invites the public to seize this opportunity to rediscover the depth and diversity of Tunisia’s cultural legacy. A full list of the participating sites is available on the agency’s official website and social media platforms.
